Statement of Brian Moran on Passing of former Delegate George Rawlings
April 23rd, 2009
ALEXANDRIA – Brian Moran made the following statement about the passing of former Delegate George Rawlings from Fredericksburg. Rawlings was a leading liberal voice in Virginia politics for over 3 decades, serving as a state Delegate and Democratic leader.
“We’ve lost the passion of a true progressive champion here in Virginia. George was a voice for the voiceless and a fighter for those who needed someone the most. He took on tough fights here in Virginia long before others were ready to the step to the plate. He pushed our party to stand up for the least among us. I knew George as a leader and a friend. His loss is Virginia’s loss and he will be missed.”
