FREDERICKSBURG – In downtown Fredericksburg yesterday, grassroots Democratic leaders and local elected officials announced their support of Brian Moran for Governor. Moran received the support of the current and former Democratic chairs in Fredericksburg and Stafford County, the Commonwealth’s Attorney of Fredericksburg, and former House of Delegates candidate Carlos Del Toro. Each cited Moran’s proven record of fighting for Virginia families and his progressive solutions for the Commonwealth’s challenges. The announcement was covered by the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star: http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2009/052009/05272009/469026
“With his strong background in public safety, Brian Moran is exactly the leader we need to keep our communities safe and secure,” said LaBravia J. Jenkins, Fredericksburg Commonwealth’s Attorney. “He has fought for the people of Virginia for 20 years, and I know he will be the type of leader that can bring Virginians together.”
After graduating from law school, Moran worked as a prosecutor in Arlington County until he was elected to the General Assembly. During his 13 years in the legislature, seven of which he served as House Democratic Caucus Chair, Moran fought to strengthen the Commonwealth's education system, expand access to health care, protect the environment and ensure the safety of all Virginians.
“I’m excited to have the support of these local leaders. They know what a real record of leadership looks like, and I’m proud to have been on their side, fighting for 20 years,” Moran said. “With so many people struggling today, Virginians need a fighter in the Governor’s office, someone who cares more about the family dinner table than the corporate board room.”
In the course of his campaign for Governor, Moran has received unprecedented support from elected and grassroots leaders. For a complete listing of endorsements, visit: http://brianmoran.com/endorsements .
